HEAD DECORATION - NORTH JORDAN-SOUTH SYRIA

This head decoration is being worn in North Jordan (Ajloun) but also South Syria. I believe that it was made in Syria. It is stamped with the maker's mark. It is quite rare to obtain a complete head piece. Usually, only the silver decoration is left and even this one is nowadays difficult to obtain.

  • The beading on this headdress truly makes the piece.  The design, colors, and soft variegation is extraordinary.  It reminds me of "abrash" -- that particularly desirable variation in the vegetable dye of antique rugs.  Stunning and fit for a museum.  Congratulations Peter!!
