From Ajmer, Rajasthan: Gold Necklace (Baleora).
 
This necklace is formed from seven chains, kept together by four gold floral-shaped roundels and an oval-shaped centrepiece with a circular gold pendant (jungi). The roundels are kundan-set with a central diamond brodered by dark blue pâte de verre and turquoises. The oval-shaped piece and the circular pendant are also kundan-set with turquoises and rubies, and a diamond in the centre. Attached to the jungi is a carved emerald drop.
 
This form was established during the Mughal period and became popular with male Brahmans and Jain in Rajasthan. Traditional Indian Jewelry: Beautiful People," by Bernadette van Gelder, page 259.
