Traditional festive headgear in the style of Mahabad (western Iran), SE of Hakkari. Ethnic group: Kurdish. The forehead jewel bears Iranian coins from the 1970s, but the chains (and the round decorative elements on them) are older. (Kavak Folklor Ekibi & Costume Collection-Antwerpen/Belgium).

  • Dear Jean-Marie, I recently collected a version of the head ornament with coins which I will post tonight.  I believe also from Iranian Kurdistan.
