  • I love them all, the gilded piece is rare in this quality. I have occasionally seen them made from metal alloy,  but with rather coarse decorations. The Tigrai/eritrean rings are also very beautiful and hard to find. And of course, the Rashaida rings you have are superb. Thanks for sharing!

  • Betty, I know what you mean, not so long ago I did see them on a fair in Amsterdam and they looked so strange to me and couldn't place them until I realized they must be copies made in Trigrai with a very false guilding look.  I haven't been to Ethiopia for many years but i do think that right now that is were they are now making copies of old pieces in a rather rough and rather mean way.

`just like in Oman, old pieces are just not available any  more.

  • they are all lovely!  If I could choose one, I would not know whether to choose a filigree or a Rashaida one........

  • Thank you Eva Baby, I cannot help you to choose, as they all are great and wearable.  Like the Tigrai rings p.e. are good to make a necklace with but also makes a good item to string a thin shawl through.

    Gr. Ingrid.
