  • Dear Mustafa; fabulous workmanship! Beautiful! Peter
  • Thanks Peter . I am glad  that you've liked this old  silver ornament.

  • I have never seen one of these before; it is exquisite!  Do you know how it was worn?  About how large is it?  It almost looks like an Ottoman tepelik.

  • Again a beautiful and interesting piece. And I love sterling silver. It looks also rather solid, sothat the open work doesn.t bend , being soft sterling.  You have collected quite a number of beautiful items Mustafa. Gr. Ingrid.

  • Thanks Ingrid and Lynn:
This ornament is quite big ' 15cm' in diameter. It used to be worn on top of the head. There are several designs and motifs of this kind of ornament as it used to be worn a lot. You are right Ingrid it is quite strong though it has openings. In some instances smaller pendants like 'small khamsas' will fixed around part of the edge of the ornament so that when worn it will be hanging on the forehead of the woman 'front'.

I think these were worn like pictured above, though this woman wears a different style

I have had quite a number of these before, and they always showcase wonderful workmanship on a very high silver content
