Someone's Ethiopian Treasures

Someone treasured these bracelets for much of her life. Two bracelets, tiny and fitting close to a tiny wrist, worn down through the passage of the woman's life. Somehow escaped the melting pot. Bought thanks to the encouragement of Ingrid. From Dessie or Wollo/Welo per Ingrid and Betty, thank you!Dimensions are 45x50mm, perhaps 700 silver, 75 and 85 grams.

  • Wow what a find, Lynn! They look like Wello bracelets to me. Very hard to find in such a fantastic condition.

    Can you wear them?

  • Same opinion as Betty, Dessie/Wollo they often are of small size loads of  none silver were around, when silver they keep them close to heart.  What is unusual is the litlle circle overlock decoration. Good addition. Gr. Ingrid.

  • Thank you Betty and Ingrid!  Yes I can wear them and I am wearing them both right now.  :)  I am really pleased with this find.  I sent Ingrid a photo of two other bracelets I had bought, and she asked me "Why didn't you buy the three in the back??"  There were three, this silver pair and one in metal.  Someone wore these for a long, long time.  I found a little cache of Ethiopian jewelry and it looks like it is all turning out to be from Dessie or Wollo/Welo.  I will post the others soon.
