  Dear Mustafa; they are both very nice. I understand that they represent the body of a women and when the owner gives birth to a boy, she would have one of the lower "wings" cut off. In Egypt, I was always told that they are originating from Siwa Oasis, which is very close to Libya.

  Thank you Paul and Peter for the comments. The Siwa oasis silver in many ways similar to Libyan. I did know about the story of cutting one of the wings .It may have been a local custum and quite old. I am not really familiar with that. But thanks for telling me this.. It is an information for me.

  These items are still available in the local market. As they are casts, they are usually not rare.

  Dear Mustafa,

  for me is "rare" not so important. I like items who are "esthetic" or typically (authentic) for a region. For example I have many of simple silver-bracelets (Morocco, Tunisa/Libya) with simple patterns, but I like them very much. I think these Huafer`s are typical for the region and very well done.

  No, I am not familiar with the two hall marks . I never saw these on Libyan silver, therefore they may not be Libyan, perhaps Egyptian?? I am not sure however.
