Ornate silver Bazuband. These were worn on the upper arm attached with silk or wool cords. Their purpose is as a protective talisman, and they usually contained verses from the Quran. This has red enamel or something similar clearly visible through the open silver work. Quite a heavy piece.

    Is there red cloth underlying the filigree work on the top?

    HI Pattie ...it looks more like enamel as it's hard and shiny.
