  • Hi Toya, The top portion says, "Bismillah Arrahaman Arrahim", or "In the Name of Allah, the Gracious, the Compassionate".  It then says, "Oh Mohamed" and other various names that begin with the vocative case "oh...."  I can sort of make out the name Ali, which, if that is the case, would most likely make this a pendant of Shia origins.  The numbers and star surrounded Arabic script letters is talismanic, not Islamic.  Ayis could perhaps offer more insight as his Arabic is superb.  Even though this looks Turkoman, most Islamic countries adopted the Arabic script and one can often find inscriptions in Arabic that have Islamic references.  A lovely piece to be sure!
  • Thank you, Hillary. Your knowledge is impressive! I was so drawn to this pendant that despite the fact that the bale is broken and it cannot be used to wear, I bought it anyway. It is so well worn and seems to have been handled often.
