  wow  a truly beautiful piece.

  Would you refer to these as scented paste beads?

  would it be possible to see a close up pic of the heart beads?

  definetely scented pastebeads, common in parts of algeria and tunisia. This very one bears enameled and gilded beads wich means that it originates from a tunisian costal city ( probably Mehdia or Moknine)

   

  This necklace is of a high sensual (and erotic) significance, since is some parts of algeria, women were not allowed to wear it when their husband where away from home!!!

   

  Unfortunately i had to part with it recently and it is no longer in my posession

  These pieces are never truly ours, we are but custodians of them for a short and blissful part of their journey through History.

  If you have a special piece of jewellery, remember that these things endure, and we are just a page in their history. In addition, that piece will probably find loving hands in the years beyond yours and the years beyond that too.
