Woman’s ‘fes’ (hat), with one of its traditional fixing methods (involving a piece of felt at the back of the head and two strings, which were attached to the plait of hair). This method was in use in the villages until the mid-20th century; unfortunately workshops that produce folklore clothing today, seem to ignore the system, and condemn female folk dancers to use (far more unpractical) hairpins to keep their ‘fes’ on the head.
