Close-up of the indoors costume of an urban Muslim woman, from Trabzon. Late-Ottoman, ca. 1870. The 'tepelik' (hat cover) is made of worked gilt silver. The medallion of the amulet necklace is gilt silver too; it bears a six-pointed 'Star of Süleyman', with Kabalistic/protective meaning and hangs on a string of pearls.
