Oh I love this one very much....
This piece as is so very rare now, As are all older pieces of Serrouchen jewellery. I have found just two good pieces in the last 2 years! Most are broken pieces patched together badly!
Patti was very fortunate to acquire a beautiful pectoral parure a few years ago whilst we were travelling together....one of those truly exciting jewellery buying moments.
It is gorgeous, sad they are not available anymore.

Fez is a wonderful place but I am wondering, is it any better for collecting antique pieces than Marakesh or further south. My son is leaving for Fez in less than two weeks, staying there for several months to maintain his Arabic, hopefully I can visit him for a couple of days and he can take me on a tour of the bazaar there. I have not had a chance to scope out any of the jewelry there. It is actually my opinion, that antique pieces may be more expensive there, although you may see a better selection of pieces from further north.

Patricia, I have heard of a market somewhere to the east of Fez, which has a reputation for being interesting. I have, of course, forgotten its` name but maybe you might hear of it.
Anyway, seeing an old medina prior to too much "restoration" is always a pleasure.
The medina is wonderful, last time I was there, my son had a home stay with a family that lived right smack in the middle of it, you opened up a door and there was a four story house. The roof overlooked the entire medina, really a fabulous and mysterious place. I love the hidden treasures behind the medina walls.
Fes is a summ of superlatives. it the best, biggest and most preserved medieval medina in the islamic world and gives for an absolute wonderful stay especially if you love to get lost in its maze.
As for jewelry hunting, it should have some exciting pieces especially in the local jewelry market but nowhere to match marrakech treasure throve.
