  • The setting doesn't appear to be of  Indian origins by the style nor do they do much with Intaglio . The setting looks Venetian  to me but I'm not seeing enough of the side view.  Why do you think it's Indian? The figure is not done in an Indian erotic style unless i'm not seeing something correctly? Is this something that is done there only? The style of the setting doesn't look Asian to me so i'm getting thrown off. 

  • I thought it was Indian because the ring is of high titer of gold, not 18k.e incisions are similar to a Indian silver ring  I have.
    Sapphire carved does not refer to the Hindu pantheon, but the Romans found in Pompeii.

  • hi to me it's more like Venetian work , and much of what was done in the later 19th c was in high K gold but usually had a ancient theme. it might be something that was made as a one off but my intuition is that is a revival piece done in Italy.
