  • Very nice necklace. Peter. It's from the Hazara tribe?

  • Very nice necklace Peter, it must be rather rare to find. I like very much the rectangular box at the bottom with several chain pendants and the triangles above.. Quite different from North African designs.

  • Dear Johanne and Mustafa; Many thanks for your messages. Yes, I believe it is from the Hazara tribe, same as the one below. With kind regards. Peter

  • Beautiful find, congratulations Peter!  I have seen the amulet but never the complete necklace before.

  • Dear Lynn; Many thanks for your message. These pieces are rather fragile. Therefore, it is extremely difficult to find them intact. The above necklace is an exception and I was thrilled to get my hands on it in Aqaba. A dealer from Syria passed in Aqaba before proceeding by ferry to the Sinai and on to Cairo. This gentleman had many Armenian and Russian belts along, which according to his statement, he was going to get copied in Egypt!!! He passed several times and sometimes I bought one of his pieces (but always on the way from Syria to Egypt!!!) I was once shown in Turkey a huge Hazara chest piece. It was very nice but many dangles, etc. were missing plus it was quite expensive, hence, I have passed. But looking back, I should have purchased it because I have never seen anything like it. However, the next time when visiting the Grand Bazaar in Istanbul, I could unfortunately not find the shop anymore... Regards. Peter
