I love these mighty necklaces with the profuse bells. Hadramaut jewelry is pretty hard to get from the estates of collectors/world travelers, my guess is because it was less accessible for travelers in the mid 20th century. I think you are collecting much closer to the source. :) Congratulations!!
Dear Lynn; You are absolutely right! I am getting important Hadramaut but also other Yemeni jewelry pretty much only from one source in Amman and this source is getting it directly from Yemen. On one occasion in Amman, I have met the Yemeni gentleman. He is flying into Jordan in the morning and leaving the next day in the evening, hence, difficult to meet. However, I understand that he can get pretty much anything from Yemen. I am usually ordering certain items from my source but then have to wait sometimes for a year or so to get the piece. For the time being, it is impossible for regular tourists to visit Yemen as the airports are more or less closed due to the war. Anyhow, I have just reserved some Iraqi beauties from the same source, which never dries out....
