  Original worn by inhabitants or is it just made up for tourists? One of the coins (the smallest one) is a Russian 5 kopeke coin. Took to 'the holy land' by Russian pelgrims.

  Dear Johanne; Looking at it, I would say that this is a true Bedouine necklace - I love it. It has lived and yes, such pieces have sometimes been extended. Hence, when a new coin for example was acquired, it would have been added onto the necklace, veil, etc.. 

  Please find below a Palestinian necklace, which is highly collectible (very difficult to find such pieces nowadays and if, then they are extremely expensive!). As you can see, the individual amber pieces have not been collected in one batch but most probably over time - colors are different and the same goes with the silver spacers. I love such pieces as they reflect the true personality of the wearer and in my opinion is true jewelry. With kind regards. Peter

  Dear Peter, Thanks for your explanations! Nice to have a real bedouine necklace.

  It is a fleamarket find (2012) I always ask where items are coming from; people who were selling this necklace told me; an aunt died (100 years old!). She bought this on one of het travels. Nobody in the familie wants this necklace , so they were selling it now. It was very tarnished. And maybe not attractive to buyers.

  I spend  €4,00.. So I am the lucky owner now.

  I like your amber necklace ! The different colours and sizes of the amber/bakelite? beads are very appealling. A very nice find! I 've visit Jordan for one day in 1999. From Eilat  ,via Aqaba to Petra . Wonderful! I want to go a second time in the future and stay longer in Petra.

  Nice necklace. It's interesting that hair ornaments are used in this necklace and in opposing directions.

  Thanks Nada and Howah for your nice comments, I have never worn the necklace longer than 10 minutes, because it is long, a bit heavy and noisy.
