  • Help needed to identify this "necklace," please.  It was described as North African and consists of 16 silver (gilded) filigree pendants with granules (meansuring about 1,5cm each). The closing mechanism was not meant to be used as such, I think, as it is really two small hooks. They are quite different from the beads/pendants. Any hint as to where this piece might originate from, would be very welcome.

  • I believe that this is Syrian or Ottoman.  The closure looks like hooks that would have been attached to clothing, or even possibly a headdress.

  • Thank you very much, Hillary! Yes, I also think it looks "Ottoman" but of course, that is a wide field. From what I know these kinds of filigree beads or pendants can be found in many regions, I was wondering if the hooks might give a clue, provided they have not been added later. Thanks again!
