Late-Ottoman silk ensemble. Konya / Turkey.

A silk ensemble (‘gömlek’/shirt + ‘şalvar’/baggy trousers), used in different ways: (top) as a traditional daily costume & (bottom) as part of a ‘social events’ costume, worn during formal visits to other families. From the Konya province, early 20th century. (Kavak Costume Collection - Antwerpen/Belgium).
