  • Dear Ingrid. I would say that this piece is originating from India. Definitely not from Oman. With kind regards. Peter

  • Dear Peter, like you wrote India.  A place where most of its East African jewelry originate from through the very early trade  like in Ethiopia,Eritrea, trade from India dates back as early as before Christ.  Like there was a trading coast town called Addullis, where coins with Sanskrit (?) were found, also in the traditional wear,Eritrea and Ethiopia have the same.

the jewelry from India  stands in their refinement still on top.  I love the Omani jewelry very much, because they have still the East African warmth on them and  mostly made in high silver.   Unfortunately I do not own any Omani pieces, just will enjoy it from the beauties the Ethnic community posts.  And to which you have delivered a large number.  Thank you.  Gr. Ingrid.

  • Dear Ingrid; Since you like the Omani jewelry, I thought that I am attaching a photo of one (yes, I have many...) of my displays. All of them are Omani pieces, except the piece on the far right side and the pot, both of which are Syrian (the head cover is from the border region of Jordan/Syria). Enjoy! With kind regards. Peter

  • Thank you Peter, very enjoyable.  The Syrians are really beautiful and show also more refinement.  The Omani coming closer to the Red Sea area. You know the silver disks are also attachement to the RashAida  and Beja  people.  They  have them a separate pendants.  I will place a photo of those tonight, as I have to go into town. You are a gentle soul pleasing others.  Warm greetings Ingrid.
