Betty, these pieces are handmade by Armenian jeweler Nalbandian son of the Craft teacher of the Ethiopian Handicraft School in Addis Ababa in the 1970s years. I gave him the idea of what I would like and he made it for me, Like the bracelet an braiding of silver, and giraffe hair set and supported in 18 KT gold. So also the chains. which are traditional really and each link is made by him. Such patience.
And I was in his workshop and saw him make it. 100% Ingrid.
Wonderful and impressive pieces, Ingrid. So you are a jewellery designer as well! And the goldsmith Nalbandian truly was/is a master! Thank you so much for showing these.
These stories and pieces also give us an impression of how jewellery techniques, styles and fashions travelled long distances.
