Details of one of the charming Ethiopian coptic crosses.
good to read it is guilded, so one knows why it has this golden- yellowish touch
It's stunning from either side. I love the beautiful engravings... The top part with the bail is also very unusual. I love it!
You know Betty, the top part has also the wings which makes it again part of the Lalibella designs, You know that one of the designs of Lalibella always have wings or birds. Like 12 wings representing the 12 disciples. So actually this cross has so many caracteristic of many types that it is really just a design done by the jeweler and I think he used whatever he like. Most probably a jeweler from Tigrai who has been influences from different areas. Gr. Ingrid.
