  • A splendid piece, Peter. Congratulations

  • Dear Peter, this is absolutely delightful, a very special piece, kind regards, zhanna

  • Dear Peter, what a wonderful item, with all the bells in tact. which are often  missing in Ethiopian pieces. I like the way the Saudi's and Yemeni's have solved that problem by securing them.  Could this also be a choker? It does look very heavy. Good find again, this from the bag of the merchant who you scolded? Gr. Ingrid.

  • Dear Ingrid,
Yes, I assume that it could also be a chocker. It is very heavy and seems of good silver - this piece was a delight to clean...
Oh yes, this piece comes from the vendor's special box, which is not on display. He had two others, which were also very nice but these were definitely head ornaments. I am sure that he will still have it next time, hence, later this month.
The neighboring shop had also a very nice head piece with the original fabric, hanging at the entrance, together with a nice head decoration, which would have been fastened at the back of the head. I will also have a closer look at this beauty next time....
    With kind regards.
    Peter
  • Impressive! Congratulations, Peter.

What it reminds me of is a certain type of Indian upper arm bracelet or bazuband.

  • Yes Betty. I know which one you mean. I had the same impression but this beauty is Saudi... with kind regards. Peter
  • I am sure it is, the differences are evident. It was just my first association :-)

    Very beautiful and complete piece...
