Frontal Parure – Mauritania

Leather, old glass beads, agate. Approx. cm. 12,5 width (4.80 Inches) x cm. 5,0 high (1.96 Inches).Before performing the dance of seduction (guedra), mauritanian women wear a frontal parure embellished with different amulets.You can see a similar piece on page 28 of "A World of Head Adornment: Africa, Asia, Oceania, America" by Anne Van Cutsem.
