  • 2506006676?profile=originalvery nice cross Betty, and for this Price!!!! You were lucky. My Gurage cross is much smaller (that is ok for me, ca. 4,5 cm ), and not old, but contemporary. An Austria  friend of mine bought it in Ethiopia for me about 2-3 years ago. I insert a small Picture- the Background is natural gummi arabicum..

I wonder what Ingrid will say to this (the "Celtic historic cross" for that amount on Ebay, and it has 4 People who have it on the watchlist!!!!  I am really shocked).

  • Eva, this is a beautiful filegrain and very fine work.  I love these pieces.  It is a Shoa cross, and were not so often made in silver more done in gold in the olden days. These were mostly made in the 1950-1970 in the 1965 the fashion became that gold crosses were made more solid -on a flat piece of gold or silver  a blue print design was transferred and than sawn out and after edged in.  All these types (including yours) very time consuming.  Beautiful.

  • Thanks Ingrid, I wanted to sleep, but cannot (due to snow coming),  dead tired I opened my Computer again........Interesting to read, how it was made. Thank you. Good night, I hope we can sleep.....
