  • old glas beads, mediteranean coral, black coral ( yussr ). the cubic and pyramid form silver beads are typical for this kind of necklaces. all hallmarked. the small cubic ones and pyramid form were gilded, the bigger ones were enameled but lost with the time

  • So beautiful - I quite like the blue glass beads, they make a strong contrast with the silver and the coral.

  • Djerba as in Djerba,India?

  • Hi Ingrid, the necklace is from Djerba, the Tunisian island.

  • Learned something new again.  It is a lovely warm necklace, so lovely put together.

  • Thank you Betty and Ingrid

yes Betty, the blue beads are beautiful. they were actualy durty and the clor not so clear, a metal wire was throw and left a lot of oxydation. i had to clean , polish and take the metal wire out, was almost all broken anyway.

    Djerba, yes the tunisian island

  • Very beautiful! Is it glass or lapis? I have heard these necklaces also use lapis sometimes. Do you think that the beads were ever gilded?

  • Thank you Patti, yes glas, old trade beads

Lapis was also used and sodalith, sodalith looks a little as lapis witout the copper dots

The small cubic beads and pyramid were gilded
