  • Lovely "flower" bracelet with interesting wrapping technique. Congratulations,  Peter!

I believe they can also be found in Yemen and Ethiopia,  usually small sizes... I once had one from Ethiopia but it was only about 4.5cm diameter. Since I love to wear what I collect I found it a new owner.

I also like your photo very much. Best regards,  Betty

  • Dear Betty; Many thanks for your message. Yes, it is rather small. However, I really like the design of it. I will post some rare Saudi armlets and many other items later next week, when back at my home... With kind regards. Peter
By the way, a dealer in Istanbul showed me how to take photos like that...
  • Betty, Are these the type you saw from Ethiopia?  I have and know only the more simple smooth ones, like the Sudanese or Egyptian ones. From the Bilen people.  Are you referring to the smooth ones?  Gr. Inrid.

  • Yes, Ingrid, I had one that was sourced in Ethiopia. Here's the link; the flowers were less prominent than on Peter's bracelet:

Maybe it came over the Red Sea... the dealer I bought it from had three of them. I bought only one and  eventually sold it again as it was way too small to wear.

  • I cannot wait to see your other finds, Peter!

Now I am curious about the picture with reflection. Did you use the top/screen of a laptop or tablet?

  • Dear Ingrid and Betty; Many thanks for your comments. I have black glass covers on the living room furniture of my apartment in Al Khobar, which came in handy. However, the dealer in Istanbul told me to place at the bottom of the photobox a black plexi glass plate and use a mat (fabric) plate at the back, which will provide even better photos, with the items reflecting elegantly on the plexi glass plate. I will look for such a plexi glass plate and try it out... With kind regards. Peter
