Dear Betty and Angelo; Many thanks for your comments. It is silver with a Mercury gilding. Mercury gilding was used prior to the arrival of electricity, hence, it is very old. Most silver smiths, who used this gilding technique died very young. The only positive aspect of this gilding technique is, that the gold is holding the wear and tear very well. A bracelet, which clearly had a gentle and caring owner.... With kind regards. Peter
