Amharic Pendant Welo Prov. - 4

seen from another angle.old Amharic Pendant from the Province of Welo, Ethiopia, 6 x 6 cm, sweet tiny little beads on the bottom. Material: base probably very low grade silver (if at all), granules and wires are better silver, in the 3 rounds were originally 3 stones, 2 are missing, one is left (impossible to say what it is, it seems light green to colourless). Seller has no info about age, but says, it is antique.

Looks like some sort of Ethiopian moonstone........You'll have now to search for replacement for the missing ones!...........good luck.

@Chantal: it could also (if it is not glass) be an opal, since the Welo province has lots of opals that are sold all over the world. Opals come in various types and qualities. I have been digging opals in Oregon (USA), there are many which are not worth much. It is only certain opal types that are expensive, many opals do not have this characeristic opalescence but look like yellowish sort of agates.(Which is not valuable at all). But I do not know, perhaps this is glass, I have no means to find out.

Hope you find the replacements...otherwise........do they make fimo this colour!?

we were discussing on tour the genuis fimo restoration of last year

@Hi Sarah, yes, the red fimo was perfect. I do not know yet, if I will replace them, because it does not look as if something was missing. The difference to the filled circle and the two emtpy ones is almost not detectable.But who knows, if my creative side wants to .......... I might find something sometime to put there... (but there won't be seen much difference really). But Fimo won't work this time, I am afraid (as it is translucent - if this is the correct word).
