A fine Labbeh from Yemen

Would you believe this is low silver? This is a wonderful and huge Yemeni or Saudi labbeh. With multitudes of granulation and hundreds of elements, this necklace took ages to make by hand. It is made of a lower silver content alloy which is below .600 silver content, probably .400-.500. I feel it shows the beauty that is achieved in humbler materials. The labbeh was worn in at least four ways by Muslims and Jews in Yemen and Saudi Arabia: as a necklace, on top of the head, as a chin-chain attached to a headdress, and as a veil. This particular labbeh came attached to a rather recent and unremarkable black velvet and cotton veil. The overall workmanship equals much finer pieces but it is larger and hence the details easier to achieve at 500 grams.
