  • Dear Mustafa; This is very nice. I have a few similar ones which I bought many years ago at the Khan El Khalili in Cairo. Some of the boxes can be opened at the top. They told me that these necklaces are originating from the Oasis of Siwa. Well, Siwa is very close to the Libyan border. Do you know anything about this? With kind regards. Peter

  • Very beautiful, Mustafa. I rarely see these beads, but I love them very much, especially the large cone-shaped ones (I assume they are beads, or are they boxes, too?). Kind regards, Betty

  • Thank you Betty: All are beads except the triangle which is an amulet. Thanks for the comment

  • Yes Peter: These may be from Siwa which is close to Libyan Border and also a lot of similarities between their jewellery and what is used in Libya. However the pieces in this necklace are most likely crafted in Tripoli. This is indicated by the hall marks on them.

  • Very lovely beads Mustafa, and I love the quality of silver used.  In the simpelness they are so elegant.
