Does anyone know the significance of these circles? I see them a lot on Siwa braclets as well.

the circles, it depend wich area. in the sahara and north africa, they represent, stars, moon, eggs , people , months,weeks ( univers,time,life and persones )
ofcourse, for a smith, it is a good and easy way to feel up the jewel space

I see the dangles are quite similar.
You know Ait filigree work is highly developed in Syria and Egypt. It may of course still have been influenced by the Yemen. I think the Habbayat bracelet we are talking about especially has more Yemeni influence than others I have seen (the applique diamonds is another element of influence).

I think that these symbols must have had ancient meaning that is now lost. I would venture to say that even silversmiths who continued traditions that came before them may not have completely inherited the original stories and deep significance of the decorations in their numbers and their shapes and symbols. I would love to hear what others know about this. Am I right that Tuareg jewelry like that of other cultures have many denotations whose meanings are sadly now lost to us?
