@thank you Ingrid and Lynn. Yes I had noticed the cross in the decorated middle part, that what makes it different from the other hairpins of the same type. therefore I bought it, (I have already a few of this type, but without this cross in the middle). Also the guilding on this one is stronger than on the others and it is quite old (can be seen on the back). It arrived quite dirty, I cleaned it several times before taking this photo.

As for the verdigris/Grünspan problem you might try brushing it carefully with soda solution, then rinse thoroughly with water and dry until no humidity is left on/in the piece.
@Thank you Betty. Yes, I feel too that it is a special one with the cross. I will try to get rid of the last Grünspan soon, thanks for your advice! There is a bit on the side and the bottom of the Body part.

@thanks Peter! I am glad I bought it after all - did not want to at first, as it seems so similar to the ones I have already. but it is the hidden cross that persuaded me to buy it.
