A large traditional ‘yemeni’ or ‘yazma’ (woman’s head scarf) from the district of Mengen (province of Bolu). Also called ‘örtme’ or ‘pô’. Rural, mid-20th century. Two-sided embroidery (identical on both sides of the fabric) in ‘telkırma' technique (motives obtained by sticking narrow metallic strips through the fabric and folding them.). Edged with needle lace combined with metal sequins and small glass pearls. (Inv.nr. yaz003 - Kavak Costume Collection-Antwerpen/Belgium).
