Amulet Necklace - Iraq

This is a very old necklace with powerful amulets attached to it, each protecting the wearer against the evil eye, illness, etc... The center amulet features additional protective scripts on the reverse as pictured below.

  • Very interesting magic square... Do you remember Lloyd Graham, one of the members, who made a study of these and was able to read them? But I can't remember anything having these signs when they were discussed.

    Like Thelma I remember Lloyds work and still have his article somewhere. I think he compared Tuared and Ethiopian rings. Not sure if Middle Eastern magic squares can be explained in the same way. Some days ago Alaa posted an explanation on Facebook (on Lynn's Afghan necklace?). I will check if I get the time ....

I have book - Amulets, Talismans, Magical Jewelry by Barbara Black Koltuv, which features all kinds of protective and good luck amulets, etc.. It makes an excellent reading (which I should when having the time...) and gives a great insight into religions (all kinds), beliefs, superstitions, etc., which have always existed.
