Two Afar combs - 2

made of Wood, 15 and 18 cm Long, from the Afar Ethnie in Ethiopia, both sides decorated. It seems that These are worn in the hair by the men, not really for combing, but as decoration.

  • Eva, lovely combes. completely new to me. I love the simple but elegant shapes. Unusual to see the teeth fanning out.  I love the simple tasteful decoration.  I recognize it as wanza wood, an local very popular wood, medium hard wood. Gets shiny and dark when age comes in. most household pieces (mostly from the south) are made of this wood. Such as the eating bowls,  knife-boxes, chairs etc. They are exceptional long. Good addition for your collecton.
