This bracelet is recent find which I believe to be an Egyptian-made bracelet worn in the Hebron region. You comments and opinions are highly welcome as I do not know much about jewellery from this region. If it had not been for our recent discussion of Palestinian pieces I might have never discovered it.
Hi Betty, Just for comparison. The bracelet below is very high grade silver and has the same motifs as yours but with no stamps.
Thanks a lot, Hillary. Indeed, the motifs are the same and they look like they are also chased (if that is the correct term...) - I like yours a lot.
A very beautiful bracelet worn in Sinai and southern Palestine region. Congratulations on a great find, Betty!
Hi, Betty. Beautiful bracelet, great patina and picture. Here you have a link to a similar couple I bought in Cairo some years ago. I should say that I find yours nicer. https://ethnicjewels.ning.com/photo/silver-bracelets-egypt?context=user
This looks exciting Betty. Got also lots of enthusiastic reaction of people who know of this region. Well done.
I do have some Egyptian cuffs, and are getting them for several of my family.. I love the silver quality .
Gr. Ingrid.
Thank you everyone for your kind comments and references. I discovered this bracelet having seen yours on this forum, Sami :). I also like Jose bracelets: its great to have a pair.
Unfortunately the hallmark is hard to read. I bought is as a "metal cuff" - Will post a close up of the stamp below (I can detect the lotus, meaning its a post-1946 piece; and make our one more letter -which I assume is the year; my guess would be the silver content is 600/1000, but I cannot read it ...)
