Traditonal emprendada from Ibiza Island- Spain.

This ibicencan woman is dressed with the tradional clothes for weddings and local celebrations. The "emprendada" is the necklace with several rows, in this case coral and silver.The Balearic Islands were conquered by North African moorish on the VIII century, and reconquered by Jaime I de Aragón, catholic King in the 1234.The island is part of the Balearic Islands, on the Mediterranean sea, and not far from Algerie.

Very interesting and sumptuous ornaments. Are they an answer to Ayis who commented on the apparent lack of interest for Northern/ western types of ethnic jewels?

Hi Chantal, yes they are gorgeous pieces. What is nice is that they still wear them in all the village parties. I saw the post of Ayis and thought that it would be interesting to show some of the traditional jewellery of this part of Spain. xx
