  • very beautiful! I love this type of telsum beads from the Tigray area. that Looks really great! They seem to have been guilded once.  A great necklace!

  • Thank you Eva! Yes, they are gilded, more than my photo shows. It is my favourite set and I have been wearing them since putting them together. They have a wonderfully worn and warm feeling to them, and so comfortable to wear - I love them! I am so grateful to Ingrid who parted with them! She selected the ones that matched best and amongst them is one that I bought a while back, and it blends in perfectly! These are all silver, and I added in some modern spacer beads which I think work quite well even though they are not guilded.
  • they do look great!   and the spacers match very nicely!

  • Hi Charlotte, I only saw all your display of your telsum collection.  You really strung them very tastefully.  I also like the locks on the cords. Is that your own invention?  The spacers between the telsums look good. I wonder if Betty has noticed these.  I know Eva is a great admirer and owner of telsums. A real geast to see your photos. Gr. Ingrid.

  • Thank you Ingrid! The fastener is modern silver and bayonet style. I like its simplicity so I use them a lot for my own work. I get them and the spacer beads from Cooksongold and here is a link if anyone is interested http://www.cooksongold.com/Findings/Sterling-Silver-Bayonet-Clasp-5...

I have added some more telsums to my collection ;) - I should photograph these too!

  • Dear Charlotte, Thank you for sharing your source, I d like the simple lock as well. i am going to check if there are also locks available I can use.  And the spacers do suit very very with the telsum ethnic style.

    Gr. Ingrid.

  • They are very easy to work with - I use a 2 part epoxy glue (Araldite Crystal Clear) and providing the piece is kept dry it holds very well to fabric, leather or silicone cord. They sell different sizes. Betts Metals also have some interesting clasps, although you need to be sitting down when you see their prices! Still, for a special piece it can be worth it. http://www.bettsmetalsales.com/c-Findings_Catches
  • I agree you did a wonderful artistic job selecting the clasp and spacer beads and arranging the necklace.
