  What a variety of fillegrain and granulates. Very nice.  Reminds me of the embroidery samples we had to make at  the elementary schools in the olden days learning  'petit croix point'(?)  For me the first I have ever seen. Thank you Preethi, learning every time some new possiblities of these capable worldwide jewellers. Gr. Ingrid.

  This shape of this is very interesting , can you take some more views of it standing up so i can see the shape more clearly.  What state  do you think this is from ? Tamil or Orissa or some other ? I have some decorated similarly but entirely different shaped bangles. I love granulation and this looks quite old.

  Thanks everyone! Yes, this is an old cuff, which has picked up quite a few dents and bumps along the way. I'll post more photos this weekend.

  Hi again everyone, here are a few more photos of this lovely cuff. It has loads of character and has picked up dents and bumps along its journey. Linda, I believe it's from Tamil Nadu, but I have always wondered about the reason for similar designs coming from Orissa and Tamil Nadu, although they don't have common borders and are not really close to each other. During the medieval period, the Chola dynasty in the south had a huge influence on what is today Orissa, and I would love to have the time to research what patterns, designs and techniques were transferred and became embedded in the communities of the time. Such patterns of granulation and wirework are mostly from Tamil Nadu, Orissa and Sri Lanka. It's easy to explain the Tamil Nadu - Sri Lanka connection, but I wish I knew more about the Orissa - Tamil Nadu linkages.

  I find these very interesting , they look also very old . I love this textile like quality to these bracelets. I have not seen cuffs like this myself and mostly bangle shape. I think these are really rare . These also could be from Vidyadharpur  Orissa because of the inner construction, as well they use this type of patterning and techniques in this area and have cuffs there.
