Ethiopian cuff, most likely from the Jimma region. It's rare to find these in good silver. This one is wonderfully worn and smooth. A joy to behold and joy to touch ... Small size (5.1cm max internal diameter), a heavy 248grams, extremely well-functioning snap closure mechanism. More pictures below.

Thank you everyone, it really is one of these pieces that grows on you. I also love heavy pieces, Peter.

I only do not dare to wear it, because it would sit very tight around the wrist and I do not know if I could ever get it off again :-))

...and my wonderful jeweller made it wearable by filing the closure a bit so that it opens more easily. Still tight fitting, but I can show if off now ;-))

So good you found this one Betty, because of the good silver so many have been melted for re-use and have not been replaces because of the cost of silver and fashion had turned more into gold jewelry since the 1960s.

Thank you Ingrid. Yes, you can probably seriously hurt someone with this... though I wasn't planning to wear it as a weapon :-) I was very lucky to find it. The previous owner had bought it in Ethiopia in the 60s...
