  this is one of the best chinese plaque necklaces i have seen and i think also very rare to see one with open work.

    I found this from an old collection of silver I was representing and this was the only piece I kept. There were several plaques but not like this. I had never seen one like this before. The only other really rare example of a silver piece I have had is the one I published in my catalogue that I think you have. I describe as Ming. I have never found another one like that which I'm sure was that old. I should scan that photo and show it on line. I will also be offering my catalogue for sale soon on the vivid sight.

  I have to see if that collection is still available. there were very many pieces and some very early but no one was that interested a few years ago when I had it. I sold alot of silver bracelets but not that many silver plaques. there were locks too that I sold. It was the type of lot that came from some one who imported in the 70's after Nixon visited and the flood gates opened with Chinese importing for jewelry shows. Tons of bits and pieces from Mongolian headdresses. Then we saw so much and it was a massive flood. Now that it's not around , there still are not that many who like it or buy it because there was at one time tons of it.  I will have to get in touch with the owner as I have photos of many good pieces and see if it's still available. I can then post and seee if anyone wants any. It was not expensive  stuff.

  I agree with Frankie and howah, Linda, that this is a great piece. I just want to make clear that in saying that it is good fun, for one thing, I was not implying anything negative: rather, that I like the amount of liveliness in the depiction.

  i think it's great that your book/catalogue will soon be available to a bigger audience. i do have a copy of it and i enjoy it very much. it features many iconic/rare pieces i might say, and the quality of the photos is also very good. i hope you will be able to get in touch with the owner. would be nice to see more examples of these nice plaques and lock necklaces.

  I'm curious what the book place was  charging for it retail?  I know what it cost me to produce and what the client of mine paid to have it made for me. I'm not sure the retail of what is ok since it's a few years old now.

  Your book was published in 2005 if I remember correctly, wasn't it, Linda? Is someone now republishing it? It contained many fabulous pieces, and I was very glad to get a copy from you. I would recommend it to anyone. Thanks for mentioning that, howah. HOW will it become available to a bigger audience? Just curious! (Partly also as someone engaged in selling a book published by his wife!!)
