  • This is very beautiful. It is so fantastic that you are showing us all these costumes with the way the jewelry was worn. A real treat! With kind regards. Peter

  • Thank you for sharing all of your important survey.

I have a question regarding the use of such holders. I am researching them and was wondering if you have ever found a quran or parts of quran in these? i know this is actually what are they labelled with and most of published books do say that as well, many dealers of course BUT i wanted to know if you found quran inside or you were told so through your researches?

    thanx for your help

  • To Alaa eddine: The answer is (alas) 'no'...  I bought this piece from an antique seller.  Costumes, accessories and jewelry that are brought to them are generally out of use for some time (which means that the possible content has been removed, especially if it has religious or personal value).  I must add that I only found one Koran box during my search (which for me was affordable, I mean).  But the same can be said about the amulet necklaces: all of the more than 30 pieces I acquired (all from shops) were empty.  I didn't ask about the content either, and the shopkeepers didn't say anything about it.  I fear that I can't be of much help for your research...  Sorry.  With kind regards, JM.
