  • verry nice piece. it is elegant and tranquil

  • Hello, Akkie. I saw a picture (I do not remember now what book it was) where an almost identical choker was described as from Uzbekistan (Turkmenistan?). It surprised me as it is not the kind of piece from those areas I am used to see. May be some other member may give some idea.

  • No problem, Akkie!. The important thing is to trace where it comes from!. My problem is that I do not have access to many of my books now so I cannot try to find that pic. I was telling you before. Maybe it was in "A World of Necklaces" but I am not sure. Anyway, I will keep on investigating. Thanks a lot.

  • This does not look Uzbeki to me and I have collected Uzbek jewelry for a long time. It does not look Turkoman to me either. Looks more toward India, Pakistan or Afghanistan -- The Uzbeks as far as I have seen do not generally attach their necklaces to cloth -- the Turkoman do but the elements don't look right to me.

  • looks indien or Pakistan to me, but i m not strong in that area

  • I agree, A. O.

I am myself trying to identify an item for a seller, maybe a choker/bracelet/anklet, eBay no. 1307584460734. Rajasthani? It seems amazingly heavy so might it be part of an elephant or camel trappings? Identifying might help put a realistic price on it.

  • Frankie, I think that item has been removed, I went to look at it and couldn't find it.

  • Sorry, Patti - it`s me, too many fours! Try ebay no. 130758460734.

  • Well, it certainly interesting looking -- and just like this one, closer to Afghanistan or India than to anywhere else -- but the price!?! -- people certainly think that their old things are made of gold.

  • They certainly do, Patti! But at least the seller did say they felt out of their depth. I just wonder at the weight of it.
