  • verry nice. i like a lot

  • Thank you Ait! It was very difficult to find any old ethnic jewellery in Sri Lanka some years ago, and I fell inlove with this bracelet when I saw it!

  • What a great find! I love Sri Lankan jewellery, but so hard to find....I have a similar cuff in silver that needs some cleaning, but wonderful work.

  • Looks very nice, for sure. I think it's a truly attractive piece, and agree with Preethi and Ait.

  • Wonderful.  Now I am warned for my future coming trip "Old Sri lankan jewels are rare to find".........So i dont really expect to find any (especially with little time available).I have seen a couple here on the blog, at least it suggests what to look for........Thank you for posting, its a treasure.

  • It's true, Chantal, old Sri Lankan pieces ARE hard to find, and this is a very good one! But I wish you much luck when you visit the country.

  • This is magnificent -- I would make this a mission to find if we were allowed to buy and import ivory into the US but we can't do any of that at all, not even antique ivory, I believe.-- would like more pics of the ivory sides of the bracelet if possible.

  • I've found it fascinating that similar wire work is found in bracelets in Orissa (India), Sri Lanka and Indonesia. But then, not very surprising considering that these lands were connected historically by maritime trade.

  • Quite so, Preethi. Ideas travelled, as did pieces. The more jewellery you see from such countries, the more obvious that becomes, I find. I like this more and more the more I look at it!
