gosh it looks so morish, like the helmets and I wonder what the holders are for, do they have any purpose, the whole piece looks so midieval years. Intriquing.

These are true mysteries as i don't know nothing about them, except the fact that they are very old!!!
yes mysteriouse, i saw something a bit semilar but i do not remember exactly.
the technique used, the absence of soldering and the punches are saharians. the small dangles at the end of the chaines are tuareg .
defence bracelets. very interesting
Actually the only hint i could find are very small triangle shaped pendants that are similar to ones found in eatern high and middle atlas!!!
i would not be surprised AIT if these bracelets come from the border with algeria around BECHAR and Saoura, but very old stuff!!
THe other hint are the very small chains supporting the little pendants, they look very algerian to me as well, but are so intricately made, so a proof of advanced age!

Very special and beautiful! There was a pair like this on Ebay a little time ago it said that these are from Morocco.
you are right Aala about the algerian border , the form ,the colsure and the triangle dangle are a commun point.
more i look at moor i see different influences.
the big half round ones have a shape not usual to see in africa, it reminds me india,specialy the decoration on it. only the salhiyat " hawafir have the same art of samples.
the signes in round with the dot inside is typical east african and egypt. the rest of northafrica without the dot inside.
the 2 long pieces near each other look like some maroccan belt closures.
hum,i m sure this pieces will occupate us for long time.
