  • I have scanned these articles in order to make people realize that Ethiopia made and makes their own jewellery  in highly skilled performances.  As I have been an avid collector for 30 years while living there it was my priviledge to choose and was willing to pay a bit more.  My collection was not always compleet, but the jewellers were able to correct the missing pieces with the same skill the first maker possessed.  No denying that there was also an exchange with Yemen, because Yemenites were also living in Ethiopia and they brought in their wedding jewellery into Ethiopia of course.

I hope that these photos may give the cedit of the beauty also to Ethiopia, which the fully deserve.

  • Love your text below! It confirms what happened to me - that (almost) everybody tried to convince me that some of my Ethiopian pieces were from Yemen. Ok, it is posssible that some jewellery was brought from Yemen to Ethiopia..... but not all !

  • I have noticed that too often and this is the reason Eva.  I have a suspecion why but will keep that to myself.
