This is beautifully made and kept, Betty. Do you know how old it is?
This sort of cuff is popular with the Rashaida nomads in Ertrea, Sudan and Yemen. Usually a pair of them is given to the bride on her wedding day. It would be nice to have a pair, but then again, I count myself lucky that I found this one. It's a huge piece ( 11.5 by 6.5 cm) but I actually quite like wearing it. Just love the intricate decoration!
The picture I have uploaded shows a 1980s Ethiopian picture postcard. There is another nice photo in Fisher's "Africa Adorned" if I remember right.
Thank you, Thelma. The previous owner was bought at an auction in the 1970s, but could not tell me anything else.
There are actually has a few places where there is a small crack between the outer rim (top and bottom) and the main body of the bracelet, but it is completely stable. The decoration is almost completely intact, which is often not the case.
A beautiful cuff Betty, really what an amazing use of fillegrain and granulate work. Even the little plates with granulate to form a flower. Stunning piece. I do know all the different types of work on this cuff, but brought together so skilled . A top shelf cuff for sure!

I was very lucky to find it, the previous owner knew not much about it, and so I got it for a very reasonable price.
Thanks are due to those on and off this forum who encouraged me to purchase it. I really love it a lot. and it means much to me as it might well be from Eritrea (where I spend some time, but only ever saw Rashaida people from afar...)
