  • This is a very nice Uzbek piece of the ilk we used to see years ago.

  • What a marvel!. Are those in the central medallion birds and fishes?

  • A pure and marvelous piece. Congratulations.
  • These are birds, as seen on many Central Asian pieces.

  • Bravo, a beautiful necklace with a lot of lightness and poetry as all ouzbecs jewelry.
Do not you think that the white beads are pearl?

    you are lucky!

  • A lovely, very good piece. Might I guess correctly in thinking that the white stones are moonstones? They often are, on this kind of Uzbeki piece.

  • I never knew they were moonstones , yes that makes sense. For some reason I thought they were mother of pearl?

  • I think they are mother of pearl-- all the jewelry which I possess like this has mother of pearl, not moonstones.

  • I always thought they were too because of the patina on outside of beads are usually a bit more opague and like mother of pearl buttons.   I have seen opals and moonstones used as set stones in some, but not the bead portion of the dangles.

  • Actually we have both, depending on the piece, but I had forgotten about those that are mother of pearl (not pearl, however). For some reason the fact that moonstones are used in some of our pieces stood out in my memory (we have had our Uzbeki pieces extensively examined), but what you say, Patricia and Linda, about mother of pearl is also true. I didn't know about the opals, Linda, but am not surprised. I don't know what dictates the use of the materials.
