@ Ingrid: a while ago we talked about how rare it is to find telsum that are decorated on the sides with open wirework. Apart from the hairpin, this piece is the only one I have in my small collection. I actually do not think it is very old.
it Looks very special1 Love this delicate fine type of work!!!
Hi Betty, This is for sure a very unusual telsum. I think it made on order by the client or by the jeweller to show his skill. Even the loops are done with open fillegrain. This will take such an enormous time that it would not have paid his labor as in those days silver was sold by weight. I do think it has age as I judge on the photo that the granulate has soften, perhaps looking at the backside you can judge better. No matter what is it an unicum.
Thanks for your comments, Ingrid and Eva!
It's a lovely piece for sure, but the back is looking quite even and new to me. It was bought in Addis not too long ago, from an antique's dealer.
Thanks for showing the backside of your Telsum. It has a smoothness to it to show that it has been
worn for several years. Like I said your Telsum is an old one with a lovely smoothness to it and also the type of work is of an old style. Treasure it. Gr. Ingrid
